DeCicco & Sons has been the most exemplary model for how to run a business in the face of this crisis. The chain has been a leader in accommodating customers, providing special hours for seniors and immunocompromised customers only, constant cleaning and sanitation, queuing customers outside the store while applying social distancing guidelines, and additional safety equipment and measures throughout all locations. The family-owned business has even implemented “combat pay” significantly increasing wages for workers braving the front lines while the stores’ leadership can also be found working the floor side by side with the rest of their team.
Westchester’s newest distillery rapidly shifted their focus from alcohol for consumption to critically needed hand sanitizer for healthcare, first responders and customers. Their hand sanitizer is available at all DeCicco & Sons stores, and from Current Spirits directly when possible.
This movement started by Eric Korn, Louie Lanza and our founder John Van Dekker, has brought together a coalition of chefs, restaurateurs and businesses to provide food security for workers and communities for clients in the face of coronavirus.
